Our History
In 1949, California periodontist Dr. Robert Hutson transformed dental care by recognizing that harsh toothbrushes were harming patients' gums. He patented a gentler design with 60 soft nylon filaments, calling it Oral-B (short for "Oral Brush"). This innovation shifted dental practices from aggressive scrubbing to protective cleaning, leading to Oral-B's rise as a global leader, merging with Braun under Gillette and later Procter & Gamble to develop the first electric brushes and AI-driven oral health technology.
